GUNNISON, Colo. -- Fifteen earthquakes have hit near Marble in the last seven days, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quakes have ranged in magnitude from 1.1 to 2.8.
"Over magnitude 2.5 are large enough to be felt," geophysicist John Bellini told Denver7. "I'm not surprised people in Marble are feeling it."
Bellini said people in Carbondale, about 20 miles away, have also reported feeling some of the quakes.
The swarm of earthquakes started last Thursday, January 19. The latest earthquake was Tuesday afternoon.
Bellini said there's no particular reason for the swarm of earthquakes.
"We can have little swarms from time to time," Bellini said. "Colorado has a lot of mountains and faults. This is an interesting occurrence, but not unusual."
