COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – A woman and a dog had to be treated for injuries they suffered in a rollover crash on Interstate 76 Monday morning.

Police said the crash occurred in the westbound lanes of the interstate at the East 104th Avenue overpass just before 4 a.m.

The male driver of the car told police he swerved to avoid a vehicle that had slowed down or stopped in front of him and lost control of the car, causing it to roll.

The driver was treated on the scene and took his dog to an animal hospital for treatment. A female passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Denver hospital.

Police said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected of being involved in the crash.

The westbound lanes of the interstate were closed for the crash investigation and police expected that closure to affect traffic until about 7:30 a.m.
