BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder and world champion professional triathlete Timothy O'Donnell is training for the Ironman World Championship coming up on October 14 in Kailua, HI. Denver7's Connor Wist caught up with O'Donnell during one of his recent training sessions to learn about a high-tech set of headphones he uses during workout sessions.
O'Donnell uses Halo Sport Neuroscience headphones during training for improvements in muscle memory, strength, explosiveness, and endurance. The $750 headphones have three sets of detachable grey nibs called "neuroprimers" that, when saturated, allow signals to pass into the body. This process activates communication between the brain and the muscles.
Training with Halo Sport only lasts for 20 minutes. In the hour following the neuropriming session, developers said your brain remains in a state of hyperplasticity. Athletes and musicians are using this time to complete quality, purposeful repetitions for motor skill improvement.
