LONE TREE, Colo. — Park Meadows mall is hosting a pop-up cinema every weekend through Labor Day.
The mall is partnering with the company Kilburn Live to create a drive-in movie experience with a smartphone-based system.
“When you come in to see the movie, you are given an access code to an FM station that gives you the sound,” said Park Meadows Mall Senior General Manager Pam Kelly.
Kelly said the movie audio can be streamed from a smartphone and played through a car’s Bluetooth speakers.
Tickets for the movies can also be purchased using a smartphone.
Kelly said an important safety key feature for the pop-up cinema is the distance between cars.
“You’re 20 feet from the other cars so even if you choose to do that where you’re sitting outside listening to the speakers versus inside the car you’re still very social distanced,” Kelly said.
According to Kelly, most movies are rated PG and they plan to host the pop-up cinema every weekend through Labor Day.
