DENVER — Crashes and weather conditions have been impacting roads in the mountains and the Front Range throughout Thursday evening.
A safety closure is in place in both directions on I-70 between Exit 359 for US 24 and Exit 438 for Rose Avenue. I-70 from Limon to Burlington is experiencing whiteout conditions with zero visibility, according the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
A crash at Exit 20 for Broadway on C-470 has all lanes blocked, requiring traffic to use on and off ramps as a detour. Colorado State Patrol says it's due to a jack knifed semi.
A safety closure is also in place for both direction of US 285 between mile marker 183 in Fairplay and Forest Service Road 56. Kenosha Pass is closed for adverse weather.
Colorado State Patrol has also reported a safety closure on US 285 for Denver-bound drivers between Aspen Park and Windy Point because of multiple crashes.
The Jeffco Sheriff reported westbound I-70 is at a stop at mile marker 259 near Highway 93 because of the weather and multiple slide offs, and officials recommend using an alternative route.
CDOT reported a safety closure on eastbound I-70 near Shrine Pass at mile marker 190 due to multiple crashes, however, it reopened around 7:10 p.m.
The eastbound I-70 exit to US 6 in Clear Creek Canyon was closed because of a crash, but has since reopened.
A safety closure was in place on eastbound I-70 at mile marker 205 for Silverthorne and Dillon because of multiple crashes and spin outs. According to Colorado State Patrol, eastbound I-70 from Silverthorne reopened. Westbound stayed closed from Golden because of multiple vehicles are stuck between Morrison and Lookout, but reopened around 9:22 p.m.
Another eastbound I-70 safety closure was at mile marker 213 due to crashes east of the Eisenhower/Johnson tunnels. It reopened just before 8:30 p.m.
Highway 46 was also closed at Crawford Gulch due to accidents on the Jefferson County side, according to Gilpin County Sheriff's Office. It's since reopened as of 9:27 p.m.
Both directions of US 24 have reopened after a closure between Peyton Highway and Smith Ranch Road.
CO 119 opened just after 8:30 p.m after being closed in both directions between US 6 and Mill Street due to multiple slide offs.
Several areas along the Front Range are on currently on accident alert because of the weather, which means anyone who's involved in a minor crash without injuries is asked to exchange information and file a police report at a later time. The City and County of Broomfield, the City of Boulder and the City of Thornton are all on accident alert.
