Weather alerts cover most of Colorado

DENVER -- Weather alerts cover most of Colorado and are warning of snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for much of the Front Range, foothills and part of Colorado's high country.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook calls for snow showers in the mountains Monday afternoon and evening.

"While the snow will generally be light, there will be heavier showers this afternoon and evening," the National Weather Service said.

Accumulations along the Continental Divide are expected to be four to eight inches, with up to ten inches around Rabbit Ears Pass, south of Steamboat Springs.

There's a chance of rain showers overnight tonight, mainly near the Northern Colorado border, the NWS said.

Light to moderate snow is expected in the mountains Tuesday and Tuesday night. There is a chance of light snow over the plains Tuesday and Tuesday evening.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory for Jackson and Grand counties in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Snow accumulations in those areas could range from eight to 16 inches.

The Winter Weather Advisory for the Flat Tops area warns of six to 12 inches before noon on Tuesday.

The Winter Weather Advisory for Lake, Chaffee and Saguache counties is in effect until 5 a.m. Tuesday and calls for five to 10 inches of snow.

A Winter Storm Warning in southwestern Colorado warns of eight to 18 inches across the Sawatch and Mosquito Ranges and one to two feet of snow in the Eastern San Juan Mountains.

The Upper Gunnison River Valley could see four to eight inches, the National Weather Service said.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center has issued a high avalanche danger warning in central and southern Colorado and a considerable danger for central and northern Colorado.
