BOULDER, Colo. -- COVID-19 regulations and social distancing rules aren't stopping some University of Colorado Boulder students from attending massive college gatherings. On Halloween weekend, numerous gatherings were shut down by police for breaking the regulations in place.
"They come to CU to party. That is what it is known for and that is what they come for," Jenny Robertson, a longtime Boulder County resident. "With COVID, they think they are young and they are not going to catch it and they are not going to give it to other people."
As the state sees record single-day coronavirus infections, CU continues to crack down on off-campus parties. Boulder County Health has placed several residences under mandatory quarantine for breaking social distancing rules.
"In a college environment such as this I think it just comes down to someone’s feeling of personal responsibility," said one college student.
Police in Boulder said they will refer all citations of off-campus parties to the school for further consequences.
