DENVER — Two people died at the scene of a crash Monday evening near Northfield High School, according to the Denver Police Department.

Jay Casillas with DPD said two vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred at 56th Avenue and Central Park Boulevard around 7:56 p.m. Monday.

Based on the preliminary investigation, one vehicle, which was carrying two people was headed west on 56th and was going to turn left onto Central Park. A second vehicle, headed east, was struck by the first vehicle as it was turning. The driver of the second vehicle lost control and hit a light post, Casillas said.

He said two people from that vehicle, including the driver, died at the scene.

In total, four men were transported to a hospital. Of those, two had serious injuries and two had minor injuries.
