DENVER — A man and a woman have been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a man in Denver's Tech Center area last month, the Denver District Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

Mark Howard, 34, and Roxanne Rodriquez-Hernandez, 24, each face two counts of first-degree murder, along with numerous other charges, including burglary, conspiracy to commit murder, assault and menacing.

Marquis Johnson, 26, was killed in the shooting. Two other men were wounded.

Police said Howard and Rodriguez-Hernandez on Feb. 19 entered an apartment in the 7500 block of East Technology Way and exchanged gunfire with someone in the apartment. Howard was shot during the exchange and taken by private vehicle to a hospital, where he later fled before police arrested him, police said.

An arrest warrant affidavit said a party was happening at the apartment when Howard and Rodriguez-Hernandez showed up, armed with guns, and a shooting ensued.

Howard was initially identified as someone else after he "had gone to great lengths" to assume another man's identity, police said.
