DENVER -- Anyone living in Denver knows it’s hard to find an affordable place to live, especially when you want the right location with the right amenities.

Matthew Leprino, a broker and member of the Colorado Association of Realtors, offers some tips on how you can find an affordable place.

"Adams County is one of the more affordable areas to still be in right now at a median sale price at $347,000," Leprino said.

Rent prices are based on what the median home price is for that area.

Denver7 found one-bedroom rentals with prices between $970 and $1,250 in the cities of Thornton and Westminster.

Leprino said the best way to look for places is on Craigslist, since property managers are starting to use the advertising site more.

The best time to look for places, with the possibility of a better deal, is earlier in the year.

"I've known plenty of landlords over the years would really like to have their leases expire in February, March, April because they want to renew at that time," Leprino said.

He adds the market is starting to stabilize, but don't expect rental prices to drastically drop anytime soon.

The median price of a one-bedroom apartment is at $1,050 dollars and a two bedroom runs $1,330 a month, according to the latest numbers from ApartmentList.

ApartmentList says rent has dropped 1.3 percent in the last two months.
