JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A highway south of Conifer was closed for several hours Wednesday evening after a three-vehicle crash killed one person.
The head-on crash occurred in the northbound lanes of US Highway 285 between Kings Valley Drive and Blackfoot Road.
One male driver died, said Colorado State Patrol Trooper Gary Cutler. One person was taken to a hospital by a medical helicopter. Two others were transported to a hospital by ambulance.
Cutler said the driver of the second car was not injured. The third driver, who is a male, and his passenger, who’s a female, both had serious injuries, he said.
Colorado State Patrol of Golden said evidence from the crash was strewn across all lanes of the highway.
Both sides of the road closed around 6:30 p.m. One northbound lane reopened at 9:15 p.m. By 11:30 p.m., all lanes in both directions had reopened.
All Lanes of US 285 are open, following three-vehicle head-on crash. Thank you for your patience while we sifted through the evidence and statements to uncover the truth.
