DENVER — Three people were arrested after fleeing from deputies in a stolen vehicle shortly after midnight Tuesday.

Around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation near E. 70th Avenue and York Street in Adams County.

The 24-year-old driver, who was later identified as Dominic Mendoza, did not stop the car.

Deputies were able to successfully deploy tire deflation devices nearby and the pursuit continued at a low speed into Denver.

During the pursuit, Nicolas Morgan-Flash, who was one of the passengers, started to throw tools from the vehicle. The tools struck the pursuing patrol vehicles, according to the sheriff’s office.

When the suspect vehicle stopped near 4th Avenue and Josephine Street around 12:35 a.m., deputies attempted to take the three people who were inside the car — Mendoza, Morgan-Flash and a 17-year-old female — into custody.

Mendoza struggled with a deputy, who fired one shot. The gunfire did not strike anybody. Mendoza was taken into custody. Morgan-Flash was also taken into custody

The 17-year-old female was also taken into custody after she tried to flee on foot.

Adams County Sheriff’s Office said they are expecting criminal charges for all three suspects. Mendoza, a probation client, has an extensive criminal history and will likely face charges related to multiple crimes, the sheriff’s office said.

During the investigation, authorities discovered that the vehicle, a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup, was stolen out of Lafayette on Sunday.

There were no injuries.
