DENVER -- More than 5,000 customers remain without power Monday night, as temperatures drop below freezing.
A snow storm hit the Denver Metro Sunday evening, wreaking havoc on trees and power lines.
In the Palos Verdes neighborhood in Centennial, hundreds of homes were dark Monday night.
"We have four kids, and our youngest just got over pneumonia," said Jennifer Winder, who was helping her children do homework by the light of a lantern. "There is obviously people with worse problems in the world, but they (Xcel) kept saying 'three hours, three hours, three hours,' and there is still no power."
Xcel reported that 101,900 customers were briefly without power in the beginning, and 57,700 had sustained outages of more than 5 minutes. As of 9 p.m., 5,000 customers were still without power, and while some crews would work overnight, some people will not have power until midday Tuesday.
