Tens of thousands of Colorado kids are heading back to school on Tuesday.
Below are the plans for back-to-school for the various school districts in the Denver metro area.
Douglas County School District
On Tuesday, elementary school children will return to in-person learning five days a week. Middle and high school students will return to full remote learning on Tuesday.
Center-based programming for students in middle and high school will return on Tuesday to in-person learning four days a week.
"DCSD School Leadership will work closely with our principals and teachers during the first few weeks of January to monitor the return of our preschool and elementary students to ensure we can sustain operations, in preparation for the return of middle and high school students," according to a letter sent to the community on Dec. 30, 2020.
Littleton Public Schools
Elementary school children will return to in-person learning Tuesday. Middle and high school students will begin classes remotely that same day.
On Jan. 19, middle school students will return to school in a hybrid model of in-person learning. High school students will follow int he same format on Jan. 25. Both of these dates are tentative.
In a Dec. 14, 2020 letter sent to parents, guardians and staff, LPS said it is asking all community members to keep wearing their masks, physically distancing, avoiding gatherings and washing their hands.
"We are grateful for the sacrifices our community members have made since August, which allowed LPS students to experience 12 weeks of in-person learning," LPS said in the letter. "This was the best thing we could have done for our students’ well being. We are eager to get our students back in school together.
Boulder Valley School District
Elementary school children will return to in-person learning Tuesday four days a week. Preschool students will return to a hybrid learning model, with two days of in-person learning. They will move to four days of in-person learning on Feb. 2.
On Jan. 12, middle school students will also begin a hybrid learning model, with two days of in-person learning.
High schoolers will follow with this same model on Jan. 19. There are two exceptions in BVSD: Boulder TEC and Arapahoe Ridge High School will have four days of in-person learning in their hybrid models.

Denver Public Schools
DPS will start the second semester remotely on Tuesday, but it has plans to move to in-person within the next few weeks.
According to a Jan. 4 letter sent to the DPS community from Interim Superintendent Dwight Jones, it is on track to transition to in-person learning along the following schedule:
- Jan. 11: All ECE-5th grade students, including SPED Centers and Newcomer Center students, return to in-person
- Jan. 11: All secondary SPED Centers and Newcomer Centers return to in-person
- Jan. 19-29: Some small high schools may return to in-person five days a week while large high schools return to hybrid schedule
- Feb. 1: All students whose families selected in-person learning are back in schools.

"Over the next two days, we have a series of meetings planned with all of the partners that we’ve been collaborating with throughout the pandemic–health experts, our school leaders, our educators, and district leadership," Jones said in the letter. "I will share an update later in the week as we discuss the latest COVID developments, develop our plan for obtaining and distributing the COVID vaccine to our educators, and finalize the details of reopening our schools.
Westminster Public Schools
Students in Westminster Public Schools will start the second semester remotely on Tuesday. The district will move to in-person learning on Jan. 11.
Health officials believe remote instruction during the first week of January will decrease the possible spread of COVID-19 that might be acquired over the holidays, the school district said on its website.
27J Schools
On Tuesday, 27J Schools will start the second semester remotely. On Jan. 12, in-person instruction will resume.
Poudre School District
Poudre School District will start the second semester remotely on Tuesday. However, it has plans to move to in-person within the next few weeks.
Beginning Tuesday, preschool students will begin an A/B model, with students in group A and in group B attending in-person learning on different days. On Jan. 19, preschool will move to four days a week in-person for all students. There is no school on Fridays.
Students in kindergarten through eighth grade will be in remote learning from Jan. 5-15. On Jan. 19, students in K-5 will go to school five days a week. Students in 6th-8th grade will move to hybrid learning for Jan. 18-29 in an A/B model.
PSD’s four comprehensive high schools — Rocky Mountain, Poudre, Fossil Ridge, Fort Collins — will work remotely Jan. 5-22 and will move into an A/B model on Jan. 25, with all students remote Wednesday through Friday.

Jeffco Public Schools
Classes will begin remotely on Tuesday.
Grades K-5 will return to in-person learning on Jan. 19 unless the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment moves the state's COVID-19 dial to Level Purple for the county.
A hybrid learning model is being considered for grades 6-12 beginning Feb. 1.

Cherry Creek School District
Classes will begin remotely on Wednesday.
On Monday, Jan. 11, elementary students will return to full in-person learning. Middle and high school students will return to in-person learning using the new enhanced hybrid learning schedule.

Greeley-Evans School District
Classes will begin remotely on Wednesday.
On Monday, Jan. 11, K-2 students will return to in-person learning, but grades 3-12 will remain on remote learning. On Tuesday, Jan. 19, grades 3-8 will begin in-person learning. High school students will begin a hybrid model.
