Thornton City Council approves $3.75 million in tax incentives for new Topgolf location

THORNTON, Colo. – The city of Thornton is once again offering millions of dollars in tax incentives to lure Topgolf to the city.

The city council on Tuesday approved a $3.75 million incentive package that would encourage Topgolf to build a 64,000-square-foot facility at the northeast corner of 160th Avenue and Interstate 25.

The incentive package will come in the form of a rebate of half of Topgolf’s property and sales taxes over the next decade.

Topgolf had previously tried to build a facility at I-25 and 136th Avenue but those plans were abandoned last year after neighbors went to court to challenge the zoning of that site.

The council approved the new location in December.

Topgolf bills itself as “the premier entertainment and event venue” that combines an all-ages game-style driving range, music, food and drinks.

The Thornton location would be Topgolf’s second in Colorado. It also has a facility in Centennial.
