DENVER — Have you felt like something has been missing in Denver recently — those little frozen flakes falling from the sky?

So far, December in Denver has been unusually dry. The month usually brings about 8.1 inches of snow to the metro area, but this month, we haven't seen any. And if we make it to the end of the month without snow, it will mark the first snow-less December since 1906.

As The Denver Post first reported, Denver's only snow-less December on record was in 1905.

This year, Denver saw an extra snowy October and November, which seemed to come to a standstill after the city received about 8 inches of snow around Thanksgiving.

Denver7's Katie LaSalle pointed out that the Denver International Airport — 13 miles east of the old reporting site at the Stapleton airport — is the official reporting site. Snowfall can differ quite a bit between the airport and the city.

However, there are a few days left in December and we could see a rain/snow mix on Wednesday night, with a better chance of flurries Friday evening and Saturday. Stay tuned!
