CASTLE PINES, Colo. — Sometimes, it takes the eyes of a 6-year-old to see beauty — and opportunity — in the mundane.
Delaney Musick, with plenty of help from her dad Judah Musick, created a heartwarming video of her carefully organized seven-step plan on picking out, painting and hiding inspirational decorated rocks around her community.
“Castle Pines Rocks is for kids who are in Colorado or Castle Pines … and the whole point of it is you find two great rocks, you paint them and then you hide them somewhere and then other kids find them,” Delaney explains in the video.
She said it might inspire them to do the same.
“So it might go in a cycle, like the water cycle,” she said.
Judah said it started when they were bored and simply looking for something to do outside to fill their time.
“Delaney had the idea of painting rocks and hiding them throughout the neighborhood to just make people happy,” he said.
All the steps are detailed in a video posted to their new Castle Pines Rocks Facebook pagethat features Delaney, adorably going through all seven steps of picking, creating and hiding a painted rock.
“We’ve had a lot of interesting comments and shares of people finding rocks and saying, ‘Oh my gosh, I found this rock on my trail behind my house,’” Judah said.
According to Delaney, these are the seven steps:
Step one: Find two perfect rocks, she said. Then, step two: Find a good place to paint your rock. Painting the rock a singular color is step three.
Once it dries, sketch what you want to paint on the rock for step four. Then paint the sketch as step five.
Step six is to write “Search Castle Pines Rocks on Facebook, take a picture and re-hide,” on the back of the rock.
“Step seven, you hide your rocks and then other kids find it,” she concluded.
