DENVER – The annual Palisade Peach Festival is back for 2021 after last year’s was canceled because of COVID-19 concerns.

One of the most popular yearly events on the Western Slope, the peach festival will run from Aug. 19-21 this year and include grower booths, the Peach Parade, peach eating contests, Peach BB Throwdown, 5K and 10K Just Peach Race, plenty of food, drinks, live music and more. The farmers market will be operating on Aug. 22.

“Everyone is looking forward to the return of the valley’s favorite festivals, our peach festival is certainly one of the most anticipated,” said Dave smith, the chairman of the Palisade Chamber Board of Director. “At this time, as we work within the guidelines, it looks like it will be the peachful celebration you know and love.”

The chamber of commerce decided last July to cancel the August 2020 festival because of COVID-19 and not the late freeze that damaged some peach crops last spring.

This year’s festival will kick off with Thursday’s ice cream social and stream dance, before the festival kicks off in earnest Friday through the weekend, with some events already scheduled and others with times to be determined.
