FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Three teenagers have been arrested after allegedly trying to steal a person's cell phone, and then stabbing him, at a Thornton Walgreens early Monday.

According to the Thornton Police Department, officers responded to a report of a stabbing around 1 a.m. Monday at the Walgreens located at 4001 E. 120th Avenue.

Police said they found a person with a stab wound inside the store. The male, who's age is unknown, said he had set up a meeting to sell a cell phone at the Walgreens. Two people met him inside the store and tried to steal the phone. As they did so, one of the suspects stabbed him, and then both suspects fled from the store, police said.

Officers located a suspect vehicle on westbound 120th Avenue near York Street and attempted to pull over the vehicle driver, who failed to stop until he or she was near 136th Avenue and Tejon Street. At that location, police took three teenagers into custody. The suspects were identified as:

  • A 15-year-old male from Aurora
  • A 16-year-old male from Aurora
  • A 15-year-old female from Aurora (who had been listed as a missing juvenile out of Arapahoe County)

Police also determined that the vehicle they had been driving had been reported stolen out of Aurora.

The trio was taken into custody for investigation of robbery, second-degree assault and motor vehicle theft.

Police said during this incident, a person ran into a police vehicle that was blocking the intersection at E. 120th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, but was not injured.
