DENVER – Good morning! Here’s what you need to know for Monday, April 30, 2018.
1. Kabul suicide attack
A number of journalists have died in a suicide attack in Kabul as a bomber disguised as a fellow cameraman detonated a second bomb at the site of an earlier explosion. At least 29 people died in the two explosions on Monday morning in the Afghan capital Kabul.
2. Lamborn ballot hearing
Six-term Colorado Congressman Doug Lamborn will make his case in federal court today to get back on the primary ballot. The Supreme Court ruled against Lamborn last week, saying he shouldn't be on the ballot because some of his signature gatherers were not Colorado residents, which is required by law.
3. Lawmakers discuss teacher strike bill
Today, as hundreds of thousands of Colorado students return to the classroom following last week's teacher walkouts, lawmakers will be discussing a bill that would make it illegal for teachers to strike. State Senator Bob Gardner sponsored the bill, which is is a Senate committee today.
4. A Line reopens
The University of Colorado A Line train from Union Station and Denver International Airport is back open this morning. The commuter rail line had been shut down over the weekend because of bridge work.
5. Warmest day of the week
The week will get off to a nice start with highs in the low 70s Monday and mid-60s Tuesday.
