DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — Three suspects are in custody after Douglas County authorities pursued a stolen vehicle Thursday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office found a stolen pickup around Santa Fe Drive and Blakeland Road. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Castle Rock.

Deputies attempted to stop the pickup, but the driver did not pull over and started "to drive recklessly" and in the opposite lanes, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies used stop sticks to stop the driver, but the suspect continued driving in the wrong lane of traffic.

Deputies then used a tactical move to stop the vehicle on Santa Fe Drive south of Mineral Avenue in Littleton, according to the sheriff's office. The driver was forced to stop and fled from the vehicle, the sheriff's office, but was struck by one of the deputies driving to the scene.

The driver was transported to a local hospital.

Two passengers were taken into custody as well, the sheriff's office said. They face numerous charges as well as existing warrants.

No deputies were injured.

The City of Littleton said northbound and southbound lanes of S. Santa Fe Drive were closed from W. Mineral Avenue to W. County Line Road for the investigation until just before 10 a.m. This is just northeast of Chatfield State Park. Both W. Mineral Avenue and W. County Line Road remained open.

This is an active investigation.
