Suspect hospitalized after officer-involved shooting in Longmont

WELD COUNTY, Colo. — A suspect was taken to a hospital after an officer-involved shooting in Longmont Thursday.

On Thursday just before 5 p.m., a Weld County Sheriff's Office deputy was passing an Econo Lodge, located at 10811 W. Interstate 25 Frontage Road in Longmont, when the deputy noticed saw a license plate associated with a wanted suspect, according to a press release from the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team (JCIRT). It was not clear what the person was wanted for.

The deputy called for assistance and two officers with the Firestone Police Department responded to help. Together, the three of them contacted the suspect in a hotel room.

"During the contact, shots were fired, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital," JCIRT said.

The officers and deputy were not injured. The suspect's injuries are unknown.

The suspect was arrested on a felony warrant. Charges have not been filed as of 4:20 a.m. Friday.

The names of those involved has not been released as JCIRT continues its investigation.
