DENVER – Southwest Airlines canceled more than 60 flights Monday in Denver after hail damaged several aircraft in overnight thunderstorms.

Maintenance teams were reviewing the aircraft Monday after several impacts were found on planes at Denver International Airport.

“Employees at Denver are working to re-accommodate our customers on other aircraft. We apologize for any inconvenience. The safety of our customers and employees is our top priority,” a Southwest spokesperson told Denver7 in a statement.

Pea-sized hail fell in the Denver area late Sunday night as a band of thunderstorms moved across northeast Colorado.
