Students in the Summit School District got an extra day of spring break due to the heavy snow over the weekend.

It's not because of the heavy snow in the mountains, but due to the snowy weekend in Denver!

Hundreds of flights were canceled at Denver International Airport over the weekend, leaving many teachers stranded in other cities after spring break.

"Due to the untimely Denver snow storm, many of the Summit School District staff have had their return flights from Spring Break canceled and have been unable to return home," district officials said. "In some schools, as many as 50% of staff have been unable to get flights home."

"As a result we will not have enough staff or substitutes to hold school," officials said. "We will resume classes at all schools on Tuesday."
