LOVELAND, Colo. — A single-engine aircraft crashed near the Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Larimer County Thursday morning.
The 1958 Piper Cherokee lost power after takeoff and crashed along Crossroads Boulevard near Byrd Drive, just outside the airport, around 7 a.m., according to the Northern Colorado Regional Airport and the Loveland Police Department.
The plane touched down on its belly in the westbound lanes of Crossroads Blvd., veered into a pole that sheared off its left wing, and spun onto the street's shoulder.
A police spokesperson said the pilot was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment and the passenger was not hurt.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
