Sleeping under the Colorado stars, in 5-star accomodations

The summer season is upon us! Who’s looking forward to spending time outside, firing up the grill, maybe venturing into the mountains, or camping with family and friends?

Well, if you love sleeping under the stars and getting away from it all, but don’t necessarily love leaving the comfort of a nice bed, this may interest you.

In 4 Eagle Ranch, just outside of Vail, there are handful of large white, canvas tents, overlooking the high desert plains, with views of the Sawatch mountain range. However, these aren’t ordinary tents.

Collective Vail is a retreat that combines camping and a high-end luxury experience. You could think of it as a kind of “pampered camping." However, Collective Retreats in Vail want to stress, the experience they offer is designed to connect the guest to the place, the land, and the people they’re with.

Founder and CEO of Collective Retreats, Peter Mack, started the luxury camping experience about three years ago in Colorado. Growing up and working in the hotel industry, he realized that traditional hotels don’t always provide a fully integrated travel experience.

He says, “I think people are looking for two things. One, a really unique authentic experience and two, a really different type of value and return on their time.” He wanted to create a spot where people could relax, but also completely immerse themselves in all Colorado has to offer.

There is certainly a lot to be valued when you step onto the fully functioning ranch. There are 75 horses, alpacas, access to fly fishing, zip-lining, and some pretty spectacular views.

The accommodations are “rustic-chic”. All tents have electricity, full bathrooms, there’s WiFi, and the beds all have 1,200-thread count sheets, down comforters and electric blankets.

A chef prepares a gourmet breakfast every morning and there are plenty of meal options to enjoy -- all feature ingredients local to the area.

Wondering about the price-tag? It’s steep; $500-700 a night. If you're interested, all the staff say they want to provide a stay unlike any other for all ages and occasions. For more information, you can visit their website.
