Sheriff’s office launches investigation after garage explodes, catches fire in Pueblo County

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. — The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation after a garage exploded and caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies responded to a report of an explosion at a home in Pueblo West, along the 900 block of S. Tierra Buena Drive, around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they saw a home’s garage on fire, according to the sheriff’s office.

Pueblo West Fire also responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

One person in the home was injured in the explosion and was transported to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Based on a preliminary investigation, the explosion and fire came from the garage, according to the sheriff’s office. Sheriff’s detectives assessed the damage and said they believe the circumstances of the incident are suspicious.

Authorities obtained and executed a search warrant at the home.

No other information was available as of Wednesday morning. This incident remains under investigation.
