People around the country are being asked to make a pledge to conserve water.
The National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation is having a competition between cities to see who can be the most water wise.
It starts with a city's major issuing a challenge to their residents, then residents sign up and pledge to save water.
"Im pledging to save every drop of water I can as part of the National Mayor’s Challenge during April," said Lakewood Mayor Adam Paul. "Let's show Lakewood is leading the way to conserving every drop."
So far, seven Colorado cities are in the top 10 for their respective city sizes: Lakewood, Denver, Castle Rock, Thornton, Aurora, Greeley and Windsor.
Residents can win prizes ranging from a home irrigation kit to $5,000 off their home utility bill.
