DENVER -- LoDo was buzzing with excitement Saturday afternoon as Rockies fans joined college football fans at a myriad of watering holes on Blake Street.

"It's a sports fan's dream weekend when it comes down to it," said one CU fan. "Last week, everyone had Labor Day, everyone was relaxing, and now it's sports season."

That fan had reason to celebrate, as the Buffs downed Nebraska 33 - 28 in Lincoln. The CSU Rams beat Arkansas 34 - 27 in Fort Collins. And the Rockies beat the Dodgers 4 - 2 at Coors Field.

"It's been awesome," said Rockies fan Patrick Gallegos. "They've had a great season. The starting pitcher rotation has not only been a surprise, but pretty awesome."

"I just hope they can continue," said Rockies fan John Land. "They're a fun team to watch."

On Sunday, the Broncos will take on the Seattle Seahawks at Mile High, while the Rockies play the Dodgers again.

Gallegos, who was wearing purple on Saturday, will likely be wearing orange on Sunday.

"The Broncos are always big," he said, "but to have both (Broncos & Rockies) going and in the hunt right now is great."

With both teams playing afternoon games, Denver PD is advising fans to plan ahead in an effort to avoid traffic congestion.
