DENVER -- Music is returning to Red Rocks in a three-night virtual concert series. Red Rocks Unpaused kicks off Tuesday night with Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats.

Those watching online should expect an unfamiliar view.

“We're building a stage up within the amphitheater, and we’re shifting the perspective of the audience 180 degrees to really have the rocks themselves be the backdrop of the artists,” said Charlie Smith from Madwell, who’s helping put on the event.

Instead of fans, lights will fill the seats.

“Yeah there’s a ton of lights and technology within the space itself,” Smith said.

There are also eight cameras built into the setup.

“The audience will be able to select and choose their view. So we have three different options that the audience can choose from,” Smith added.

These aren't permanent features, but for three nights it will allow people to press play on concerts again.

“Hopefully we can get people back into this iconic venue in the future, but at this point this might be the only time we have the option to do this,” Smith said.

The lineup includes:

  • Tuesday, September 1: Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats with special guest Phoebe Bridgers
  • Wednesday, September 2: Lil Baby with co-headliner and award-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion
  • Thursday, September 3: Award-winning country artist Sam Hunt with special guest Brett Young
