VAIL, Colo. — Police in Vail are trying to figure out how a woman wound up injured and unconscious in a dumpster.

Officers responded to an address on Vail View Drive at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday after someone reported finding the woman inside the dumpster. When officers arrived, the woman was conscious and breathing but unable to speak.

Police said the woman was found with zip-ties in both her hands and feet. She was able to free herself from several ties, but still had several on her when she was found, officers said.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Vail Health, where police detectives interviewed her. Police have not released any details about her identity.

The woman's last known location was near 142 Beaver Creek Pl. in Avon at about 4 p.m. Monday, police said.

Anyone who noticed anything suspicious in either area should call Vail Police Detective Sgt. Luke Causey at 970-470-2372 or email lcausey@vailgov.com.
