Police: Three suspects rob Circle K in Golden, hold clerk hostage at gunpoint

GOLDEN, Colo. — Police in Golden are working to identify three suspects who allegedly robbed a convenience store and held the clerk hostage at gunpoint.

Around 2:26 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to an alarm at the Circle K at 17691 W. Colfax Ave.

About six minutes prior, three masked and armed suspects had entered the store. One suspect went behind the counter and held a gun to an employee's neck while the other two stood in front of the counter with their guns pointed at the employee. The suspects collected money from the register, police said.

Afterward, the suspects shoved the employee at gunpoint into a backroom. They then robbed the employee of personal belongings, police said.

The suspects fled from the store with a box of Twix bars, two cartons of cigars and about $72.51.

Police gathered suspect descriptions from witness statements and security video:

  • Black male, 6 feet tall, wearing a black beanie, white and black mask, black Adidas jacket, blue jeans, white shoes, black glove on left hand. Armed with black snub nose revolver
  • Black male, wearing black hoodie, gray face covering, gray pants, gray shoes, black gloves, armed with handgun
  • Black male, wearing gray beanie, blue hoodie, white face mask, black pants and black shoes. Armed with black semi-automatic handgun

All three suspects fled from the scene on foot.

Police later obtained a second surveillance video from a home in the Golden Trace neighborhood, which is directly behind the Circle K. The video shows the three suspects, and possibly a fourth person driving the car. The three suspects were dropped off and the. driver then leaves the area. The car is described as a dark-colored four-door sedan.
