BRIGHTON, Colo. -- Police in Brighton have deactivated an Amber Alert for a missing 18-month-old toddler and her mother after both were found safe late Sunday morning.
Brighton police first issued an endangered missing person alert for Brittany Martinez, 28, and 18-month-old Madilynn Ronquillo, both from New Mexico, just after 4:15 a.m. An Amber Alert followed four hours later, at 9:14 a.m.
Authorities stressed Martinez was not a suspect in any crime. Friends told police they became concerned for her well-being after she sent strange texts around midnight.
According to a press release, Brighton police were told by officers from "another agency" that they had found Martinez and her daughter and that both were safe.
The Colorado State Patrol said in a press release numerous calls came in from the public alerting them that the vehicle was traveling north on I-25 through the Denver metro area, but while they were unable to catch them, a CSP Trooper was able to use a close contact to get a hold of Martinez.
At around 10:19 a.m., CSP troopers made contact with the woman and the Amber Alert was canceled.
Details of where they were found were also withheld per the family's request to respect their privacy, according to police.
Brighton police deactivated the Amber Alert at 10:52 a.m.
