COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – A pedestrian, identified only as an adult male, has died after being hit by a car or cars on Interstate 270 in Commerce City early Thursday.

Commerce City police and firefighters responded to the westbound lanes of I-270 near Vasquez Boulevard at about 4:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a body in the road. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the man was hit by a westbound vehicle that failed to remain at the scene.

Police later said the vehicle they suspect was involved was located and the driver identified. But they have yet to release the driver's name and no arrests have been made.

It’s not yet clear what led to the crash.

The westbond lanes of the interstate were closed at the I-270/I-70 interchange while police investigate.
