The road up to the top of Pikes Peak outside of Colorado Springs has opened for the season.

Visitors can now drive up the scenic Pikes Peak Highway, which opened Monday morning, according to officials. The road takes visitors up to the 14,115-foot summit and is currently open from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The Colorado Springs Visitors Center said drivers will likely need to park at Devil's Playground — located at mile 16 of the 19-mile highway — because of limited parking at the top, due to ongoing construction. A shuttle can take them the rest of the way up.

If you’re new to exploring Colorado at elevation, bring extra layers. At 10 a.m. on Monday, the temperature at the top was barely above freezing.
