You can donate in honor of Orlando shooting victims at any Bonfils Blood Center across Colorado.
"Bonfils Blood Center has received inquiries from Coloradans wishing to assist in the response to the tragic shooting in Orlando," said spokesperson Liz Lambert.
At this time, the OneBlood center in Orlando has not made a specific request for blood from Bonfils, however it has issued an urgent request for products nationwide, according to Lambert.
The request comes at a crucial time.
"Blood centers across the country are experiencing shortages currently due to several factors, including the drop in donations that typically occurs in the summer months," said Lambert.
Anyone wishing to donate in honor of the Orlando Shooting victims may make an appointment at any of Bonfils' seven community donor centersand mention group #7300 or mention the Orlando Memorial Drive.
Appointments can be made online or by calling 303.363.2300.
Some gay and bisexual men will not be able to donate blood.
In December, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration lifted a lifetime ban. Currently, gay and bisexual men can only donate blood if they have not had sexual contact with another man for at least 12 months.
