DENVER – This week, you can get out of your parking tickets at CU Boulder by donating canned food.

CU Boulder Parking Services is once again offering its ‘Food for Fines’ program in conjunction with Harvest of Hope Pantry. The food drive runs from Monday, Dec. 11 to Friday, Dec. 15.

By donating at least five non-perishable food items, anyone with an outstanding parking citation can have the ticket waived.

There are some exceptions, however: Donations won’t be accepted for student tuition accounts, tickets that have been sent to collections, towed/booted cars or those that were ticketed for being in handicapped spaces, fire lanes or other places they shouldn’t be parked.

Tickets must have been issued prior to Dec. 1, 2017 and can’t be more than $50 each.

To donate, swing by Parking Services between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Parking – limited to 15 minutes -- will be available for free in lot 440, south of Parking Services.

Items in particular demand at the pantry include: Canned tuna, cereals (whole grain preferred), beef stew, chili with beans, canned beans, carrots, corn, peas, fruit and chunky-style soups.
