CONIFER, Colo. — Firefighters worked Tuesday morning into the afternoon to extinguish a house fire in Conifer.

Deputy Fire Chief Jacob Ware with the Elk Creek Fire Protection District said a single-family home on the 11100 block of Conifer Mountain Road was fully involved in a fire Tuesday morning. As of 10:20 a.m., the fire was too dangerous for firefighters to work from the inside. Around noon, the fire department said they had the fire under control.

The house was a total loss.

Ware said very little of the fire had expanded to nearby vegetation

One person was transported to a hospital with injuries, he said. Their condition is unknown.
