Oklahoma couple's photo shoot inspired by 'The Notebook' goes viral

Posted

An Oklahoma couple married for 57 years celebrated their long-lasting matrimony recently with a photo shoot modeled after “The Notebook” that has gone viral.

Clemma and Sterling Elmore said they fell in love at first sight, and that she actually asked him to marry her. Clemma, 76, told ABC News the two were listening to a radio program more than a half-century ago when she jokingly asked Sterling to marry her.

“And he says ‘yes,’” she told ABC News. “And I thought, ‘Oh, did he mean that?’”

The two were married the following Saturday and have never looked back.

Photographer Stacy Welch-Christ put together the “Notebook”-inspired photo shoot, which the couple says they are big fans of.

When Welch-Christ posted the photos to Facebook, the collection was shared more than 37,000 times – something completely unexpected for the couple, who will celebrate their 58th anniversary in February.

“We are totally overwhelmed,” Clemma said. “It just has got us just – well, we’re just humbled by the comments.”
