A judge has ordered Shawn Geerdes to be held without bond in connection with the killing of a Parker man whose body was found in a burning car in Jefferson County.
Geerdes, 46, is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder and second-degree arson.
The judge scheduled him to return to court on Wednesday for the filing of formal charges.
The burning car was found down a steep embankment in the 9500 block of Cougar Road in Deer Creek Canyon on Sunday.
Once the fire was extinguished, the remains of 44-year-old Jason Dosa from Parker were found inside. Authorities said Dosa had been shot.
Geerdes was arrested in Douglas County Wednesday evening.
Geerdes has prior Colorado arrests for burglary, domestic violence, drug dealing and theft.
He was sentenced to 16 years in state prison in October 1997 after he pleaded guilty to drug dealing in Jefferson County. Just three months later, he was sentenced to eight years in state prison after pleading guilty to two counts of burglary in Douglas County.
