NEDERLAND, Colo. – Sections of the Town of Nederland will “likely” be without water for a couple of more days following a water main break that took place during the Frozen Dead Guy Days festival this weekend, the town’s mayor announced Sunday.
Mayor Kristopher Larsen said through the town’s website that work will begin to repair the leak first thing Monday morning.
Traffic is expected to be detoured via signs and it is expected that the excavation will take “most of the day,” Larsen said.
“Once we see what the situation is with the water main, we’ll be able to assess and begin the actual repairs. It is likely that that we’re looking at a couple more days without water.”
The areas still without water are:
- North of 1st Street
- South of 4th Street
- West of Bridge Street
Anyone needing water in the affected areas is asked to go to the community center in Nederland for bottled water or to fill jugs for use at home.
The leak was reported sometime Friday afternoon, according to posts from the Nederland Colorado Town Hall Facebook page.
Events at the Frozen Dead Guys Days festival, currently on its 16th year, were not affected by the lack of water.
