A mountain biker attacked during a bike race in the Camp Hale area is getting $1 million to settle her lawsuit.
Attorneys for Renee Legro said she was attacked by two large, Great Pyrenees dogs on July 9, 2008.
"The dogs attacked Mrs. Legro without warning or provocation, and mauled Mrs. Legro, causing life-long injuries and substantial economic damages," Bloch & Chapleau Attorneys at Law told Denver7.
A jury convicted rancher Sam Robinson of owning a dangerous dog. The dogs were protecting Robinson's sheep herd, according to the Vail Daily.
Dr. Jeffrey Resnick, a Vail-area plastic surgeon who treated Legro at the hospital's emergency room, told the newspaper, "I couldn't begin to count the number of stitches she had."
Legro filed a civil lawsuit. After numerous appeals and court battles, Legro agreed to accept the $1 million policy limit settlement from Robinson's insurance company, according to Bloch & Chapleau.
