Month-long fundraiser combines hiking, ending hunger in Colorado

Posted

COLORADO — Throughout the month of July, hiking enthusiasts are invited to hit the trails to help end hunger.

Hike to End Hunger, the annual month-long event created by Hunger Free Colorado, is back this month.

From July 1 to July 31, Colorado residents are invited to participate in this statewide fundraiser, which focuses on helping those who struggle with low-paying jobs, job loss or other difficulties.

Hunger Free Colorado launched in 2009 to connect people in need to food resources, while also encouraging a change in the systems, policies and social views that touch hunger. On its website, it said the Hike to End Hunger is open to anybody interested in participating.

While registration is free, donations are encouraged.

Colorado has thousands of trails to explore from national parks and monuments to open spaces and state parks.

Participants can use the hashtag #Hike2EndHunger on social media to share stories and photos.
