GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. — Dozens of residents in Glenwood Springs reported feeling a 3. 1 magnitude earthquake early Friday morning.

The quake happened at 1:58 a.m and was located about two miles northwest of town, according to the United States Geological Survey in Golden.

There was a smaller 2.2 magnitude quake in the same area about the same time on Thursday morning, a seismologist at the USGS told Denver7.

"We don't anticipate any damage from a quake this small," the seismologist said.

This is one of several quakes reported since Dec. 11, when two quakes hit the area within an hour.

The quakes reported since then are most likely aftershocks from the 3.6 magnitude quake in December, the seismologist said.

These types of earthquakes are not unusual for Colorado or this area, according to the USGS.
