DENVER — A large, but brief, power outage hit southeast Denver Friday around 7 a.m.

The outage affected more than 22,000 customers at its peak. The outage was northwest of Cherry Creek State Park.

By 7:15 a.m., it had dipped down to about 11,200 customers, and by 7:22 a.m., it had dropped to 9,700.

As of 7:30 a.m., only one customer was reporting an outage in the area.

Michelle Aguayo with Xcel Energy said the power outage stemmed from a transmission problem at a substation. The outage lasted for 38 minutes, she said.

RTD said the power outage affected their signals and switches near the Dayton Station. The H Line and R Line are delayed up to 10 minute, RTD said.
