AURORA, Colo. — Three men wearing masks barged into a motel lobby early Wednesday and robbed guests.

The armed robberies happened around 3:15 a.m. at the Econo Lodge located at 15900 East 40th Avenue near Denver International Airport.

Police said five hotel guests and one employee were robbed.

Four of the victims were part of one family. Larry Shinofield was with his wife and two grandkids in the lobby waiting for the airport shuttle to arrive when the robbers barged in.

"Three guys came in. They had hoodies and masks on," Shinofield explained. "Two of them came in and jumped over the clerk's desk. Another man came towards us and demanded our money and cell phones."

The family was getting ready to go to Jamaica. Their trip was ruined in a terrifying way.

"I don't have any money. I don't have any identification. I'm gonna go home," Shinofield said.

The masked gunmen then fled.

Police said the suspects were black men wearing dark clothing and gloves. Police didn't provide any further information.

Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-STOP (7867).
