Campus officials say the school known for an annual raucous celebration of marijuana will be uncharacteristically mellow this April 20.
The Daily Camera reports that the University of Colorado in Boulder's Norlin Quad once drew 10,000 people for a 4:20 p.m. smoke-out. The celebration earned CU a top slot on Playboy's party school list.
But officials began cracking down on the festival in 2012 and say they expect this April 20 to be a normal Wednesday on campus. Spokesman Ryan Huff says there will be a police presence but the school doesn't anticipate any problems.
Officials have pointed out that students can attend sanctioned, pot-centric events in the Denver metro area.
CU students with a more academic interest in marijuana can attend the campus' third annual Cannabis Symposium.
