VAIL, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say a 44-year-old man died after attempting a jump while backcountry skiing in central Colorado.
According to the Eagle County Sheriff's Office, the man was skiing the East Vail Chutes on U.S. Forest Service land when he went off the jump Tuesday morning. Investigators have not released any other information about the man's death, which happened out of bounds of Vail Ski Resort.
The Vail man's name has not been released.
