Man charged with kidnapping, sexual assault in attack on elderly woman on Broomfield trail

BROOMFIELD, Colo. — A man who is accused of attacking an elderly woman on a trail in Broomfield earlier this week has been formally charged.

District Attorney Dave Young said Donald McMillian, 43, of South Carolina, was charged with first-degree kidnapping, sexual assault on an at-risk adult, sexual assault while armed with a knife, sexual assault with force, first-degree assault causing serious bodily injury with a knife and felony menacing.

Investigators said McMillian stabbed and assaulted the 79-year-old victim, who was walking her dog, at a pedestrian underpass at Sheridan Boulevard and Highland Park Drive on Tuesday.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have not released her condition.

McMillian is being held on $300,000 bond. His next court date is set for April 25.
