GOLDEN, Colo. –  A 70-year-old Longmont man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his 10th conviction of indecent exposure, officials announced Friday.

Fred Merrill Shattuck was accused of exposing himself to nine females in Jefferson County, including teenage girls near Chatfield High School, according to the District Attorney for the First Judicial District.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office took several complaints from 14- and 15-year-old girls near the high school in December 2017 and January 2018, reporting that Shattuck exposed himself four times at an Einstein Bros. bagel shop on South Simms Street and a Subway shop on West Coalmine Avenue.

Prosecutors said Shattuck admitted that he went to the restaurants to expose himself to someone. Shattuck pleaded guilty in May to four counts of indecent exposure, a class six felony. He was sentenced to three years on each count.

“This is deviant behavior, and it was very traumatic for Shattuck’s victims,” District Attorney Pete Weir said in a statement. "The best way to protect our community is a lengthy prison sentence.”

Shattuck, a registered sex offender, had indecent exposure convictions dating back to 1995, according to court records.
